** Gay Marriage

Jake,

I notice that you support gay marriage.

Though we may not like it, marriage is a religious institution. Government has no more business defining marriage than it does defining baptism.

Those who wish to redefine marriage aren’t interested in marriage, but rather treatment equal to that afforded “married” couples.

I believe the best way to solve the gay marriage issue is for there to be no government involvement in marriage whatsoever. Government involvement is just another way to tax the American people. Without government involvement, a religion should be free to define marriage. That being said, it is at the discretion of a religion, even a newly created religion, to marry same-sex couples, who, once married, would then have all the same “rights and benefits” as heterosexual couples. Nobody has the right to impose their “religious morals” on someone else.

FYI my initial response was lost in the website transfer, but the campaign’s stance can be viewed here
