“No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare.” - James Madison, 1795
Sick of all the lies? America is engaged in endless, nation-building missions abroad and it is time we support our troops by removing them from harm’s way. As I wrote in my Afghanistan War plank, costly, conventional armies will not work (and have not worked for close to a decade now) but capturing al-Qaeda by the use of constitutional letters of marque and reprisal is the best option.
To defeat suicide terrorism, one cannot aggravate the root cause of it in the first place — 14 of the 19 hijackers on 9/11 were Saudis who wanted US forces (5,000 to 10,000 strong) off of their country’s soil with its holy sites of Mecca and Medina. To defeat suicide terrorism, one must not only capture the current terrorists but also stop the next generation of attackers from growing – this is where the government is actually making our country LESS SAFE from terrorist attacks as seen with the attempted attacks of Zazi in the NYC subway (Zazi was motivated by the deaths of Afghan civilians) and Abdulmutallab on an airliner.
“The first casualty when war comes is the truth.” – Senator Hiram Johnson, 1917
“I will promise you this – that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I am President, it is the first thing I will do. I will get our troops home. We will bring an end to this war. You can take that to the bank.” – Barack Obama, October 27, 2007
“This is the FUNDAMENTAL difference between us. We will end this war. For John McCain, there is no end in sight to end this war. Fundamental difference. We will end this war.” – Joe Biden in VP Debate, Washington University, 2008 (1:10 onwards)
(Special thanks to the grassroot supporter who created the above video today, which spliced together a few videos.)
Sick of all the lies? I will do exactly what I say in this video - move for immediate and orderly withdrawal from both Iraq and Afghanistan, and vote against funding the current wars with a single dollar.
As the financial quarter ends March 31, legalizeliberty, a grassroots supporter from DailyPaul.com, has organized a money bomb on Monday, March 29 to “Stop the Wars.” The first $1,000 will be used to support a mailing effort to likely supporters in the district who are not yet aware of the campaign. The remainder will be used for direct advertising, such as this below fantastic advertisement that went up in a local newspaper earlier in March. I have personally contributed over $3,000 to my campaign so far, if we raise $5,000 between March 29th and March 31st, I will chip in another $500.
While Towne for Congress is an independent campaign and I am not affiliated with any political party, the campaign is still #1 in terms of fundraising in the nation for any independent or major third party US House race through December 2009. We will likely double or nearly double our 2009 totals in the first quarter. The campaign was recently featured on the front page of the local newspaper in “Running on a Shoestring Budget.”
The campaign offers a donor report accessed from the bottom of this page “Why Donate?” that highlights how all money has been spent through February 2010. Currently, campaign volunteers are engaged in obtaining the necessary signatures for ballot access, an update is here, and instructions in case you can help are here.
Thank you all for your support! I’ve always said it will be the volunteers who determine the outcome of this race, and so far, so good!!
