Great page, Jake! I really like the candy store analogy! That should be easy for anyone to understand. Only problem is - these comments don't always get accepted by the website. This is my third try.

Oh really?  Sorry about that!!  Please send me an email at jaketowne@gmail.com with the error message(s) and how exactly you got the problem.  I will put my pitiful HTML skills to work and see if I can figure it out, otherwise I will escalate it to the Raging Debate folks.  Thanks again!!

Jake, this is one of the best, well reasoned articles on what to do about health care i have read.  not only do you punch holes in the current proposed approaches, but you offer an excellent solution.

most of the critics out there only seem to want to condemn the current proposed solution, and simply act like there is nothing wrong with the status quo.  there is no question we are in serious trouble with health care.

i might suggest you add another thought in your stump speach - why this rush to pass legislation?  do it once and do it right.  we have been screwing up health care for decades, it is time to think it through.

Hi Jake,

Fantastic work on this health care legislation. I'll spread this around as much as possible through my website (www.DavidKretzmann.com) and work to get people interested in your campaign.

Keep up the great work!

Best,

David Kretzmann

Hi Jake,

Did you see this from Whitehouse.gov on the healthcare bill?

TUESDAY, AUGUST 4TH, 2009 AT 6:55 AM Facts Are Stubborn Things Posted by Macon Phillips

Opponents of health insurance reform may find the truth a little inconvenient, but as our second president famously said, "facts are stubborn things."

Scary chain emails and videos are starting to percolate on the internet, breathlessly claiming, for example, to "uncover" the truth about the President’s health insurance reform positions.

In this video, Linda Douglass, the communications director for the White House’s Health Reform Office, addresses one example that makes it look like the President intends to "eliminate" private coverage, when the reality couldn’t be further from the truth.

For the record, the President has consistently said that if you like your insurance plan, your doctor, or both, you will be able to keep them.  He has even proposed eight consumer protections relating specifically to the health insurance industry.

There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care.  These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation.  Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.

MikeinAZ -

Don't worry, I reported myself.

While Douglass claims that Obamacare will not "eliminate" private coverage, it surely will have very close to this effect, given enough time.  Check out the the chocolate store story

Way to go Jake!

As I get more involved in the debate, it becomes evident that the issue is not health care, but insurance.  All the sob stories are not about care but about insurance companies not paying for it.  We find ourselves in this mess because health care is NOT insurable.

Insurance is the legally binding transfer of risk of loss from one party to another in exchange for a premium and a duty of care.  These losses are usually of a nature that the reasonable person would not inflict them upon themselves or thier property otherwise they would and could be guilty of fraud.  We purchase most other insurances with little complaint AND HOPING THAT WE'LL NEVER NEED OR USE IT.  Tell me again why we purchase health insurance????

Even malpractice....malpractice is not about people suing health care, it's about insurance companies suing insurance companies! Because they can'tmake money providing coverage under the heavy hand of government, they must therefore try to swindle their profits from each other.

If HSA's are such a great deal, why can't EVERY American have one? Could it be that insurance companies have found a mother load trading a tiny reduction in premium for a high deductible?

Keep up the good fight Jake!
