On Wednesday, October 28th, I traveled down to the Drexel University campus to appear on FOX New's Freedom Watch with Judge Napolitano, Drexel's Student Liberty Front, Pennsylvania State Representative Sam Rohrer, and Jacob Hornberger of the Future of Freedom Foundation. I was a panel member for the first two sessions covering the concept of "just war" and also the current "financial fiasco" which can be seen below, or watched on this playlist link. On the first session, my plank on the Iraq War can be read here, and the "War is a Racket" essay by USMC General Smedley Butler can be read here. In the second session, my plank on the Federal Reserve is here, and I highly recommend "Fractional Reserve Banking in Pictures" to understand the current fraudulent monetary system.
I will discuss the Federal Reserve in more detail as a keynote speaker this November 22nd at the Constitution rEVOLution Tea Party in Philadelphia. Locally, I will be given a few minutes to talk about constitutional money on Friday, November 6th at 7 PM in Palmer Township. Details on both of these upcoming events are here.
This was my first time on a major news network and I must say that I was quite impressed with Judge Napolitano - he is quite the media professional. As a professional chemical engineer, not a career politician, it is quite a bit different to have to immediately answer fastball questions than in person or even phone interviews. However, practice makes perfect, and trial by fire is the best way to learn quickly.
Judge for yourself how I did, and please leave any comments or suggestions to improve below! I was not part of the panel for the last two parts but the remainder of the show can be watched here.

Thanks to campaign volunteer Robert Fernandes for creating this great banner!!!

It was a good presentation! Of course Napolitano asked all the correctly loaded questions, but it was colorful and entertaining. Thanks for doing it, Jake!

Why don't you pay attention to the NEEDS of your district instead of making EVERY little backwoods election into a national referendum? My take is that you don't give a hoot about the folks back home, you're simply looking to get on that propaganda bus and ride to the big town.
You're ALL alike.

Dear Anonymous -
Thanks for your comment. In some ways you are correct in that this was a chance for media exposure - which is helpful at getting the message out. This is also a federal race, not a state or local so the topics I feel are appropriate. Congress's responsibilities with the monetary system and foreign policy are currently being shirked or handed to the President.
Now, if you live in the 15th district, I would like to hear your concerns.
I believe many people are hurting - fewer jobs, heavily taxed, because of the central economic planning activities that originate in the White House and Congress. Check out my income tax plank and federal reserve plank under issues.
People also have a basic need for their government, esp. for federal representatives, to be accountable to them. Please check out my Open Office plan here. http://towneforcongress.com/mission/our-open-office
As far as believing that "You're ALL alike" that is your decision. I suggest you take a look at my motivations and campaign promises - such as not enlisting in the congressional pension plan which awards representatives up to 80% of their $174K pay for the rest of their lives, the elite congressional health care plan, etc.
Also, this independent campaign began in May 2009. I've taken a lot of heat for not running with the two-headed, one-party system of the Demolicans. Although independent/3rd party candidates are a bit of a hot topic now, does not mean that we are alike. There is no shortcut to making a decision based on the individual and his/her principles. At least I list mine. http://towneforcongress.com/mission/principles
Perhaps the American people also need people like you to run for office. I assure you I have a healthy distrust of almost all politicians myself and if they weren't infringing so badly on my freedoms and those of my family, I would probably still be working abroad as an engineer.
Sincerely,
Jake Towne

Great job, Jake!

Jake,
The freedom watch program was excellent. Thanks for being on the program and talking about the timeless vision of the Constitution.
"Why don't you pay attention to the NEEDS of your district instead of making EVERY little backwoods election into a national referendum?" - is this commenter serious?
First, I didn't know district 15 was backwoods? But "Anonymous" doesn't offer their name or location so I guess metro areas in the 15th district like Allentown (62nd highest population in the nation as of 2008 ) are just too small to be counted. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton,_PA-NJ_MSA]
Secondly, I think the "NEEDS of your district" are probably deeply rooted in personal liberty and freedom which is being quickly eroded by an overreaching congress, another power hungry executive branch, and Supreme court that ignores the Constitution on a daily basis .
Please keep up the good work.
Sincerely,
A supporter from NJ's 12th district

Great job Jake!!! I am spreading the word to everyone I know about you and your views. It is time for people to vote for candidates that believe in and and are promising to follow the US Constitution. I am very proud that you are one of the good guys and I am excited to see the difference you, and others like Ron Paul, are going to make for this country. Thank you Sir!

The Judge should have gotten you more involved in the discussion. It's hard to make an assessment with such limited exposure. Keep it up and get as much practice as you can, take advantage of offers like this and accept public speaking offers no matter how big or small. I also agree with Chuck Wagner to ignore anonymous posters who apparently have little or no knowledge of the area - the Lehigh Valley is no "backwoods" - or your speaking efforts.
Pete Spencer
Hmmm - I liked the "Constitutional Republican" view. I have often said I think your views would be more successful by revitalizing and renewing the Republican party back to its roots rather than trying the third party scenario.
I was a little dissapointed that Judge really didn't ask you too many questions, and that the mic wasn't really ready for you when you answered.
