Money Bomb Week raised $3,698.29 from 80 donors on 2/15, and $737.76 from 11 donors during the 2/17 Liberty Candidate Money Bomb. During the rest of the week, another $2582.76 was raised from 27 donors, including a $1,000 match from myself, for a grand total of $7,019 from 118 donors! This amount has increased our total funds raised to over $25,000, which appears to be the top independent fundraising total in all US House races per the FEC.
Thanks to all donors for helping the campaign!! I would like to especially thank grassroot supporters Gigi Bowman of www.liberty-candidates.org and legalizeliberty of DailyPaul.com for their time and effort organizing and promoting these money bombs. Well over 60 donors had never contributed before, which raises our donor count to over 450. This is a trust and support that I take very seriously, and is a mandate to win the election.
100% of all campaign donations have been from individuals, and the vast majority of donors have given less than $200, which is a sizeable sum to donate to a campaign. For those who donated, our reasons to donate are listed here, and the latest donor report is listed here.
While the Democrat in the race has raised a much higher total through his collusion with the White House and the Democrat National Committee, the amount of his donations less than $200 is just $20K per the FEC, a sum comparable to mine, indicating my level of popular support is similar, especially since many of his donors contributing over $200 reside outside of the district.
The Republican meanwhile is heavily dependent on the Republican National Committee and PAC groups, deriving close to 50% from them. As with all career politicians, they simply use the big PAC and rich individual donations to attract attention from the rest of the public. While they do have supporters, it is hard to see why anyone would get excited over the Republican who did nothing to avoid the current economic morass, and helped cause it with all his big government spending and bailouts, or the Democrat who believes the government’s role is to create jobs. (Read this article for a taste of what I mean.) Towne for Congress has not and never will take lobbyist and corporate PAC donations.
While $7,019 is a large sum of money, we did fall short of our $20,000 goal, which is necessarily to make this race competitive. I am pleased to report that ballot access and the planned advertising will continue. However, while the success of this campaign will come down to the dedicated volunteers, we must continue raising money.
The next money bomb is organized by the grassroots organization Voters With Change, and the date is March 4th. VWC is a group of over 1,000 individuals who give affordable amounts of $5-$10 at a time en masse to constitutionally-minded candidates. Our goal for this one-day money bomb event is to raise over $1,000 from 100 donors, so let’s see if we can beat it!!
Also, the campaign is taking part in a charity event on March 7th with Big Brother Big Sister of the Lehigh Valley. If you would like to consider donating as well, please check out the links under Upcoming Events. All proceeds goes to the charity, not Towne for Congress of course!
March 10th is the first day the campaign can begin collecting signatures, we will be announcing the kickoff as the time approaches!
