Dear Friends of Liberty -
September was a great month as the campaign picks up steam, from the booth we had at the Campaign for Liberty regional conference in Valley Forge, to the inspirational 9/12 rally in DC, to several talks on taxes and the financial crisis I have given locally (see below) and door-to-door campaigning. Please use the website to stay informed, but several of October’s events for the next 2 weeks:
- (Turnout was good! 15 attended!) TONIGHT – Thursday, Oct 8th. Volunteers Pizza Night in Bethlehem. There is still time to attend if you email back before 4 PM. Please come!!
- Thursday, October 15th. 7-8 PM. Economics lecture on “Why the Stimulus Plan Won’t Work” at Moravian College. Details here.
- Saturday, October 17th. Nazareth Halloween Parade. Contact by email if you want to help out!
- I will be on FOX News later this month!! Check out Upcoming events for more info!!!
The #1 task the campaign needs your help with is SPREADING THE MESSAGE! Even if you are not in the district, most of my ideas and articles are useful anywhere. Handout sheets have been added to most Platform Planks on the web like this one. Feel free to print out and share with your family, friends, and colleagues!
Please also consider creating a login at TowneForCongress.com to receive updates via email.

Fundraising: The first FEC financial report quarterly and my US House personal finance disclosure have both been filed but are not yet online. While I do not particularly like the loss of privacy in filing my personal disclosure, in some ways it will make supporters realize that I am quite serious about winning – the loss of salary from my engineering job in China is significant, and that although I am not particularly wealthy I have no issues surviving through the election next November. In just 1.5 months of fundraising, the campaign has:
- Raised $8187 from 151 donors. Removing my donations (~$2100) and the top 5 donors, the average donation was $27
- We have $3010 in cash on hand, enough to fund yard signs and the rest of October’s activities
- 100% of all contributions are from individual private citizens. Not a single dollar has been accepted from lobbyists, PACs or other any group.
The campaign estimates that the Establishment will spend close to $10 million on this race, but remember our mission is to simply to spread the message, and millions of dollars is completely unnecessary (not to mention a HUGE waste!!) if volunteers are excited and keep spreading the message. While I will personally do everything possible to succeed, the success of this campaign ultimately rests with the volunteers and We the People.
The other key factor for this independent campaign – the eco-political climate – is conducive to success in a high-profile but local races like US House. Economic unrest causes political change, and incumbents will fall like weeds everywhere in the coming years, just as they did in the Great Depression. There are certainly naysayers and party-hardliners out there, but from my experiences going door-to-door, people just want to have their voices heard and select a newcomer who will serve the public best and is not the “lesser of two evils” and does not practice “politics as usual”.
The campaign’s ambitious but achievable goals for December 31st are to reach $40,000 in total donations (x5) and reach 1,000 total donors (x7). This is the type of growth is very possible and necessary to place the campaign into a very solid position as 2010 begins. In line with the transparency of the open office, donors will be informed how their money is spent later on. Online ads are at dailypaul.com and libertymaven.com. While there are not enough funds allocated to run print ad campaigns yet, the campaign is committing about $1500 to yard signs, which will arrive this month. If you are willing to display a campaign yard sign on your property, please send the campaign a note at TowneForCongress@gmail.com with your name and address.
We will need everyone’s help to reach these goals. I encourage everyone to place a vote for me with a few bucks, even if its just $5. Donations can be made via the sidebar on towneforcongress.com. The donation page lists federal donation restrictions.
Last but not least, I would like to introduce Jessica Roth, who is now serving as Campaign Manager effective September 17. You can contact her at jroth78@yahoo.com. Jessica has been helping out tremendously already over the past several months, and the efforts and time she has given to the campaign is literally priceless. Please join me in welcoming her to the team!
For your information, it actually still pains me to ask for money, but its necessary for the campaign to achieve our mission. There is trouble ahead, but there is also the possibility of a very, very bright future in both our lifetimes and our children’s lifetimes if we can restore our long-lost constitutional Republic and our civil and economic liberties. If my version of freedom is what you want in your life, it is yours for the taking.
STAY FREE!
