While the White House-backed, Establishment career politician John Callahan will hold a $1,500/plate fundraiser on Tax Day with Vice President Biden, Towne has traveled the district and is well aware of simple facts like almost everyone does not have that kind of money to donate due to the economic downturn created by the Republocrats. Towne for Congress will hold a “We the People” Fun-Raiser on June 6 at the American Sandwich Company on Route 309 in Coopersburg and will ask donations of $25 to attend.
The other Establishment candidate, the incumbent Charles Dent, is a 20-year career politician who helped finance the economic disaster with reckless federal spending, including a vote for the Banker Bailout of 2008. Fortunately, voters will have a chance to hire an independent voice, Jake Towne, this November.
Towne for Congress has raised $30,917 so far and is the top independent or major third party fundraiser in the nation for US House as reported by the FEC. Towne for Congress has raised money from 653 donors, and when the candidate and the next top 5 donors are removed, the average from each donor is roughly $35. This will be the campaign’s first fundraising event.
Towne for Congress has raised 100% of all funds with donations from individuals, and does not – and never will – accept corporate PAC or lobbyist donations.
Towne is a chemical engineer who worked in the semiconductor industry prior to running for office as an independent private citizen, including the past 4 years in China. Towne has promised to accept only the median household income and not enlist in the congressional health care or pension plans. The remainder of the $174,000 salary will be donated to local non-profit hospitals. He also champions sound money and a novel-yet-simple form of accountable and transparent government, “Our Open Office” which is explained on his website.
