An Upper Nazareth Township soldier wounded Friday in an explosion in Iraq does not have life-threatening injuries, according to a spokesman with the Pennsylvania National Guard.
Daryl Kennedy is recovering in a hospital in Germany, according to Lt. Col. Chris Cleaver. But Cleaver declined to comment further on his condition at the behest of Kennedy’s family. He has a wife, Carly, and son, Chase, 2.
According to the Associated Press, the bomb went off in Tarmiyah, north of Baghdad, as Iraqi and U.S. soldiers were cordoning off an area. Iraqi police said the bomb had been planted at the house gate of a senior leader of a Sunni group who had taken up arms against insurgents, according to the AP.
Kennedy and another U.S. soldier were injured in the incident, the AP reports.
