Morning Call Invites Jake Towne to Debate Dent and Callahan!!!

The district’s largest newspaper, the Morning Call, has invited Jake to debate with the “two-headed, one-party” candidates, incumbent Republican Charles Dent and Democrat John Callahan.   The campaign immediately accepted the invitation.  The event will be held in October prior to the November 2nd election day at a date, time, and venue to be announced later.

The campaign excited for the chance to debate both of these Establishment career politicians.  Last November, Towne challenged both campaigns to a debate and received no answer from either Dent or Callahan, saying:

Dear Congressman Dent and Mayor Callahan -

I respectfully challenge either of you to a debate concerning our congressional race. I am open to either one-on-one debate or debating both of you at the same time.

While I can understand a relunctance on your parts to a debate so early before the November 2010 election – and that since you both are members of political parties that use the optional primary system…

The times we live in are not normal. The dollar is in crisis and unemployment is rampant. Civil liberties are restricted more with each passing day. We have apparently endless wars continuing in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. I am traveling the district and the people are hurting. Congress’s solutions of more spending through the stimulus plan and more taxation via the Cap and Trade bill on energy and even our health care seem dubious at best.

Regardless of our differences in views as candidates, we owe it to the public to debate on these issues…

Congressional races should not be similar to sports teams duking out a popularity contest, we should have a healthy debate on the issues – for the good of the PEOPLE.

One more challenge still remains where I need your help — one of the handicaps that the Republocrat system inflicts on independent candidacies like mine is the need to collect signatures for ballot access.  Republocrats in Pennsylvania are required to file 0 (zero) signatures for ballot access, while Towne for Congress must file 3,629 valid signatures.

The campaign is pleased to report steady progress since the last update, but I still really need your help!    See just some of the campaign’s events here, including a booth at the Schnecksville Fair tonight and tomorrow, and canvassing in the East Greenville/Pennsburg area on Sunday.

Remember always:

“A small body of determined spirits fired by an unquenchable faith in their mission can alter the course of history.” – Mohandas Gandhi

I am delighted to give the residents of the 15th Congressional District their one precious chance to vote out Tyranny, and vote in Liberty.   Our money has been stripped of its value by government printing presses, the jobs have been stripped from the people by government interventions, the taxation is unnecessary and unbearable, and endless, costly wars continue in Iraq and Afghanistan.  The “Our Open Office” concept will revolutionize representative politics.

They deserve it so much, and I will be humbled to be their servant and fight back against the tyrannical federal government on their behalf.

Yours in Liberty,

Jake Towne

I’m really happy about how the Morning Call is handling the election business, at least for this US House seat. They’re really being fair about it. Congrats!

Your opening statement in the debate should be ‘Voting for either a Democrat or a Republican in November reminds me of the definition of insanity-doing what you the voter has always done and expecting a different result. It’s time to stop the madness of never ending war, out of control deficits and runaway government. It’s time to vote for a return to fiscal common sense, sacrifical leadership and a change of course from the almost certain destruction of this great nation. It’s time to vote for Towne for Congress.’
